On the armored steam train they meet Gee, a handsome teen who is a Chamelin, so he can transform into a flying dragon. This gives Piper a chance to escape from her difficult life as a scrapper, to help Anna, and maybe even receive a reward for returning her to her rightful home. Piper decides they should sneak on a train bound for the capital city of the Dragonfly Territories – Noveen. This girl, Anna, has amnesia but is frightened by a man who comes looking for her. After a giant meteor shower, Piper rescues an unconscious girl who has a dragonfly tattoo, which means that she is someone important and protected by the King of the Dragonfly Territories.
Summary: 13-year-old Piper is an orphan who lives on her own in tough Scrap Town #16 and survives by fixing small machines and hunting for debris left by meteor storms. Setting: The World of Solace – an alternate planet that includes bits of magic
